Charity Golf Classic
Play Golf…Fight Cancer
The STOP!® CHILDREN’S CANCER, INC. Charity Golf Classic is a one-day golf tournament scheduled for October 2, 2009 at the Haile Plantation Golf & Country Club. As it enters its second decade, the tournament is considered by many golfers in North Florida to be the area’s premier event.
Tournament day begins with a breakfast to honor the tournament Sponsors. Throughout the morning golfers can warm up their golf swing, enter a putting contest, have a photograph taken and bid on silent auction items. After a catered lunch, the golfers tee off. When play is finished hors d’oeurves are served, the silent auction closes and player prizes are awarded.
The format of the tournament is low gross and low net per hole of the foursome. The tournament sells out in advance and players can register as a single or as a foursome. The retail value of the tee gifts exceeds the cost of the entry fee and prizes are awarded to first, second and third place teams as well as teams finishing 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th. It is no surprise that this tournament is recognized as a favorite among golfers in the community and that it typically nets the charity over $75,000.
