Kick off the holiday season with Holiday Traditions: A Musical Celebration

Holiday Traditions 2008 089-web.jpgHoliday Traditions: A Musical Celebration will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

Kick off the holiday season and experience this heartwarming and inspiring concert! Holiday Traditions: A Musical Celebration is a Gainesville tradition held every year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The holiday concert features area high school choruses, the Alachua County Youth Orchestra and the Gainesville Youth Chorus and highlights the high level of artistic and cultural achievment from these schools and community groups.  These young musicians (instrumentalists and vocalists) continue to bring both smiles and tears to our audience each year. The groups featured in 2008 included the Alachua County Youth Orchestra, Gainesville Youth Chorus, Columbia High School Chorus, Eastside High School Chamber Singers and P.K. Yonge's Vocal Ensemble. In 2008 we also said goodbye to Dr. Russell Robinson, the "Founding Musical Director" of Holiday Traditions after 12 incredible years of service. The tradition will continue in 2009 under the direction of Professor Gary Langford, conductor for the Alachua County Youth Orchestra.

The performance is taped by WJCB TV 20 and is rebroadcast on television on December 24th or December 25th.

Adult tickets are $12, child (under 12) tickets are $6 and group tickets (10 or more) are 10. VIP tickets, which include a champagne reception catered Carrabbas after the concert, are $45.
