Bear-a-Thon

Give a cute and cuddly bear to a child undergoing treatment at Shands!


The 9th Annual 93.7 K COUNTRY Bear-a-Thon took place on Thursday, February 14, 2008. The event, held every Valentine's Day, is an opportunity for people to call in to the radio station and pledge $40 toward the purchase a bear for a child being treated at the Shands Cancer Clinic. Listeners from Orlando to Orange Park participate in the event. The 2007 Bear-a-Thon netted $61,000!

In addition to purchasing the bears, listeners are able to call in and bid on the many incredible auction items procured by the staff at K COUNTRY. Past items have included autographed guitars, concert tickets with backstage passes and a country music cruise.

Many of the callers have personal ties to the cause, and have shared their feelings and experiences with us:

• "We always felt that the most important thing was our son's attitude while he was undergoing treatment, and receving a bear is one of those things that really facilitates a positive outlook."
